Lets start the mission..

Hello and Welcome!

Well the thing posted here are for those who want their hi-fi computer to operate on their own. How is that your computer get started automatically and again get turned off by own without your attention? Sometime it will restart at a particular interval. Is that possible? No No, it can't be. If that is to be done then why there is a power switch attached outside? But the fact is that I am not joking. It can really be done. Uptill now if anybody has understood what I mean to say and what will be the matters I will post then they may leave now. Because what I posts are not for genius group. So lets start..................

One thing you may make clear in your mind is that the BIOS configuration in our machine is one thing to be studied upon. Such such things can be done. If you want to make an alarm system in your computer so that it wake up by the time you ordered it, then what you have to do is entering the BIOS setup. On the BIOS screen you will come to an option named 'Power Management Option'. Press Enter and then again press Enter on 'Power By Resume'. Enable it and fill up the blanks with the Date of the current month and Time(followed by the system clock) you wish to make the computer turn on. After that, save it and restart. Turn off the computer and check wheather it is operating or not. Kindly note that though our sytem clock follows 12 hour format but in case of the Resume Alarm, the clock follows 24 hour format. Keep it in mind and enter the time correspondingly.

If your luck is good then the mission will be accomplished or it will not. As the whole thing depends on the Motherboard BIOS condition of your computer. So wheather it is hi-fi or a low graded, things can happen or can not. I have tried this in 3 computers with different ages and have faced no problem. Now its your turn!! You will face one problem regarding this. You have to configure the alarm system as many times as you want it to awake by self.

Well, so you have learnt how to wake up computer by own. Now how to make it Turn off or Restart or Log off by own. Is there any change more to be done in the BIOS part. No there is not. Rather it is more easy. What you have to do is make separate batch files for separate operation. The codes of making such a batch files are given below:- Kindly see and remember some of the basic DOS commands.

1) For Turning Off the computer- Just type "shutdown -s -t 2" in a notepad and save it by any name except 'Shutdown' with extension '.bat'. If this batch files is runned then computer will get off after 2 seconds.

2) For Restarting the computer- Just type "shutdown -r -t 2" in a notepad and save it by any name except 'Shutdown' with extension '.bat'. If this batch files is runned then computer will get restarted after 2 seconds.

Same thing for Logging Off also.

Now you have learnt to turnoff or restart or logoff computer by executing batch files. But how to make computer turned off or restarted or log off by own?

Do you know about a folder named 'Scheduled Tasks' found in the Control Pannel section. Before clicking on this folder please arrange a password for you account. After making your computer password protected, and after clicking on the folder named 'Scheduled Tasks', just add those batch files by timings you like and enter password when asked. Thats it. Your computer is ready. Now it will get turned off or restarted according to the timing you scheduled it. Don't worry. Doing all these will not affect the normal function of the PC. You can manually do it all as you have been doing till now. Just think of it and assume that what what work you can make your PC to do without even caring you. Think Think.
